Stylecraft Interiors’ General Specifications for dental cabinets and countertops.

Materials:
1. Veneer core 3/4” plywood for all laminate countertops that house a sink. AWI premium grade (type 1-b-2) Section 200-2.
2. Corian countertops to be built up to 1 ½” thick. One inch moisture resistant MDF backer.
3. Plastic laminate is 1/6” thick horizontal grade on all exterior surfaces exposed surfaces. Nema LD3-1980: LP-508: Fmvss No. 302: MIL-P-17171. Plastic laminate manufactured by Formica Corp. or equivalent. Vertical grade plastic laminate shall not be acceptable except for curves.
4. Cabinet interiors consist of white melamine on ¾” particleboard. Drawer sides are white, low-pressure laminate, miter folded and doweled, on ½” flakeboard. Drawer bottoms are white, low-pressure laminate, on ¼” MDF and meets Nema LD1-1971: Nema LD1-2.01: Nema LD1-2.02: Nema LD1-2.03: Nema LD1-2.06 standards. Melamine component panels manufactured by Tafisa or equivalent. Drawer must be doweled, glued and stapled.
5. Interior adjustable shelves are ¾” thick white M.C.P. edged with Canplast edging, in a #9 finish applied by an automatic edgebander at a temperature range between 390F and 395F.
6. Toekicks and backsplashes are plywood ¾” birch veneer core. Meets P.S.51-71 or P.S. 1-66 standards. There is high-pressure laminate on all toekicks. All toekicks are removable.
7. Casters: twin wheel hooded black plastic – 3” high overall.
8. Fire-rated and moisture-resistant materials available upon request and by special quote.

Hardware:
1. Hinges are Blum #71T6580: 165 degree opening, snap–on style, all metal and self-closing. Hinges shall be secured to doors with screws which are screwed into inserted plastic dowels. 90 degree or 135 degree hinges are not acceptable.
2. Slides are Blum “captive profile” self closing slides, ¾ extension, #230M series, 400mm white epoxy coated, load rating to 75 pounds.

General Fabrication:
1. Measurements must be obtained on jobsite with a laser scanner. All walls and scanners are to be digitized, and will be machined from the scanner data with a CNC to ensure proper fit. Sanding and machining AWI standards. Premium Grade sections 300-2, 300-3 and 300-4.
2. All construction joints of cabinets and drawers are to be doweled with 8mm diameter dowels, and drilled on 32mm centers. All cabinets and drawers are to be glued and held in square under pressure in a suitable case clamp until glue is set. In addition to being glued, joints shall be stapled and screwed where possible. Butt joints that are not machined are not acceptable. One-quarter inch melamine drawer bottoms are glued into a ¼” retaining groove.
3. Built up members are glued in addition to nailing.
4. Assembly at the factory are in as large a unit as possible. Ample allowance is made for cutting and fitting.
5. All cabinetry is to be manufactured accurately. Drawers and doors shall have no more than 1/8” spacing between them, except where reveals are indicated.
6. All countertops are to be built up to a 1 ½” thickness. Any field joint must be factory machined for the use of tight joint fasteners in addition to necessary splines.
7. Door and drawer edges are to be 3mm thick PVC bonded with hot melt glue and applied by an automatic edgebander at a temperature range between 390F and 395F. Corners of doors and drawers are to be rounded using a roundover machine to ensure proper and consistent 1/8” radius edges.
8. Drawers are full box design with a separate front and incorporate 8mm dowel construction.
9. All toe kicks have black satin high-pressure plastic laminate and are made to continuous length. Three quarter inch plywood toe kicks are to be removable to allow access to the adjustable leveling legs. All leveling legs have a minimum adjustability of ½”.
10. Cabinet sides shall have 5mm diameter holes drilled at intervals of 32mm to accommodate hinges and drawer slides. All cabinets are to be engineered to house hardware within the 32mm system.
11. All laminate countertops with sinks, and all backsplashes, will consist of ¾” thick veneer core plywood. AWI premium grade (Type 1 – B - 2), section 200-2.
12. All Corian countertops to be built up for a 1 ½” thick edge. One inch moisture resistant MDF for backer. One-half inch Corian backsplash silicon to top. Integral Corian backsplash available upon request.
